Welcome to the February 2026 Newsletter from Snake River Strings Co., Idaho’s Best Music Lessons three years running!

Student of the Month: Lee Durney🎻

Lee is an incredible example of lifelong learning and dedication. At 90 years old, Lee began studying violin after retiring from a 30-year career at the Idaho National Laboratory. Since then, he has played in a community orchestra and continues exploring a wide range of musical styles.

Lee practices daily, eagerly participates in studio events and performances, and consistently challenges himself by thoughtfully applying feedback each week. His positive attitude, commitment, and love of learning make him an inspiration to students of all ages and a wonderful part of our music community.

2026 printable operations calendar 📅

As we head into the new year, we wanted to share our 2026 Printable Operational Calendar with you!

This calendar outlines important dates such as studio closures, holidays, and special events throughout the year.

Having these dates in advance helps families plan ahead.

(If a lesson falls on a scheduled closure, you are not billed for that lesson.)

📅 Studio Reminder

We will be closed on February 16th in observance of the holiday. You will not be scheduled or charged for any lessons on this date.

🎯 Practice Challenge Update

We’re officially one month into our practice challenge, and we are so proud of the consistency and effort our students are showing!

The location with the highest average practice time per student will win the pizza party 🎉 — thank you for continuing to support practice at home.

📍 Current standings:

  • Blackfoot is leading the way!!!

  • Close behind: Pocatello, Ammon, and Rexburg

Keep up the great work and be sure to practice to help bring your location’s average up! You can still print our sheets (below) if you haven’t started yet!

(Practice Challenge winners are determined by average practice per student at each location, not just squares that are filled out at your location!)

If you’d like to take this challenge to the next step, then join us on this fun FREE practice app, called Tonic Music! It’s so fun, as is a way to gameify the experience.

Join our private group by clicking on this link below. And below that is a youtube tutorial I made to help explain it a bit more if you need it :)
